Badia)advocats advises the Barcelona Municipal Social Services Institute (IMSS) on a data protection impact assessment

Badia)advocats provides legal and technical advice to carry out a data protection impact assessment for the MIMAL service, linked to the telecare service of the Barcelona Municipal Social Services Institute (IMSS).

The advice that Badia)advocats provides to the Barcelona Municipal Social Services Institute (IMSS) covers the legal aspects related to a data protection impact assessment (DPIA) in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Currently, the IMSS offers citizens a Telecare Service that involves installing a device in the user’s home, connected via the telephone line to a receiving center, with which they can communicate in case of emergency by simply pressing a button.

From the call center, professionals handle the inquiry and activate, if necessary, the most suitable resource for each situation: locate family members or contact persons, dispatch a mobile unit to the user’s home, or activate other emergency services (061, Firefighters, Urban Guard, etc.). We are asked for a budget for our potential involvement in the legal advice that the Municipal Social Services Institute (IMSS) may require for the preparation of the specifications that will govern the future framework agreement for the accreditation of companies to contract interventions in the homes of Social Services users.

The main purpose of the collaboration requested from Badia)advocats is to carry out a data protection impact assessment (DPIA) in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Organic Law 3/2018 on Data Protection and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD) to analyze the MIMAL service.
